Andros Island , “the Grand Dame of the Cyclades ” is the location for our Yoga Retreat. It is an island with a rich history and maritime tradition, distinguished for its beauty and grandeur. Its natural beauty, comprising of enticing sea sides, lush green hillsides with an abundance of running water, intertwine with the magnificent architectural creations and monuments.

Hotel Perrakis -- Andros island

 

 

Andros, the northernmost island in the Cyclades Islands Cluster, is one of Greeces most charming islands. Just a two and a half hour ferryboat ride from Rafina port, Andros is the ideal vacation destination for both weekend getaways and longer holidays.

Andros Island is a beautiful land with an abundance of dazzling sandy beaches, impressive archaeological and historical sites, quaint seaside and mountain settlements and verdant valleys, olive tree plantations, gorges, rivers and springs

Our retreat takes place at the Hotel Perrakis is located in the popular seaside village of Kypri , on the western side of the famous Cycladic Island of Andros. It is situated on the rocks, just above Kypri Beach and the clean waters of the Aegean, offering one of the best views from Andros hotels.

The settlement of Kypri is located on the western side of Andros Island , at close proximity to the port of Gavrio and the popular resort of Batsi. The area offers guests many lovely features such as a beautiful beach, crystal clear waters and several dining and nighttime entertainment venues that overlook the sea.

 

 

Hotel Perrakis The hotel is comprised of 44 spacious and comfortable hotel rooms that offer a wonderful sea view. The management of the hotel provides well-designed facilities and quality services, making accommodation on Kypri Beach a pleasurable and relaxing experience. The Perrakis Hotel Rooms in Gavrio, Andros belong to the 3-star *** category of Andros hotel and operates from March to October. All rooms have sea view with balconies, air conditioning, fridge, private facilities, safe deposit box , internet access.

 

Very nice decks and terraces with dining room (family style cooking) small inside and outside bar. Vegetarian selection available. Below the hotel has its own beach with free umbrellas and sun chairs with crystal clear waters.

From Hotel Perrakis near Gavrio, Andros, visitors have easy access to the following destinations:

Itinerary for Oct. 4-11 - 2008

Week One

Sat.,Oct 4th. Arrive Athens airport or from Athens .Meet and board our private transfer bus to the port of Rafina , only 30 minutes away from the airport to board our afternoon ferry to ANDROS departure around 6 pm. Arrive in Andros after 2 hours ferry ride. Meeting and transfer by our hotel bus to our seaside hotel PERRAKIS 3 klm from Gavrion overlooking the best sandy beaches of the island. Dinner provided the first evening.

What should I bring with me?

You would need comforting clothing for the Yoga and a Yoga mat. The Life Centre can provide you with your personal mat. Swimsuit for the beach, and an open mind to enjoy your yoga retreat!

Who can attend?

Anybody, with no Yoga experience or with as the classes of are open to all levels.

 

Week One

October 4-11 - Island of Andros

Week Two

10/11:  Ferry to Rafina; bus to Delphi then visit ,dinerand overnight in the mountain village of Arachova.

10/12:  Delphi-Rion-Anitrion via Patras to Olympia and the ancient site of the Olympic Games.

10/13:  Olympia-Trioolis-Tiryns

10/14:  Nauplion-Epidauros-Corinth and Corinth Canal.  Dinner on your own.

10/15:  Guided visit on foot of Acropolis, the Theater of Dionysos and the Agora.  Afternoon free.  Dinner on your own.

10/16:  Athens.  Lunch stop; drive along coast to Temple of Cape Sounion to view Temple of Poseidon; nunnery of St. Paul.  Farewell dinner along coast in Voula.

10/17 Transfer to airport for flight home

 

The sessions:

The daily sessions ( 2 per day) will take place in a separate room partly outdoors one in the morning before breakfast and one in the evening before dinner which are both included daily. Some beach yoga will be improvised.

 

Midday is free for you as this will enable you to do your own activities during the day like swimming, hiking, doing excursions on the island or to nearby islands like TINOS and MYKONOS just 1 -2 hours away. On your own you can go by the public bus or rent a scooter or car from Gavrion or Batsi , to discover other parts of the island like the Korthi village at the beach, Menites green village, the Sariza springs.

During our stay the following bus excursion is included:

After breakfast around 9.30 drive inland by our bus to Katakilos to hike along the small river for 20 minutes to visit the restored olive press , and return to continue or spectacular drive to the Monastery of St Nicholas built on a mountain slope with superb view and valuable icons, and then on to CHORA- the capital with its arch.museum and and the modern art museum with contemporary art exhibitions.Return via Paleochora the ancient capital and Batsi to our hotel for afternoon swim or rest. (On that afternoon there will be no Yoga class).

Return:

On Sat., Oct. 11th 2008 we will depart from the hotel after breakfast to board the ferry to Rafina around 10 am to be there around 12.00 and then on to the airport with our private bus.

Airfare from the US to Athens and return. (Inexpensive flights exist if you book ahead over the Internet or thru our local travel agent).

Payment conditions :

Deposit of 30% to be paid until May 15th – 2008 .Balance to be paid June 15 th - 08.

Cancellations free until May 15 th .For cancellations after that date to June 15th the cancellation fee is 50 % and for cancellations after June 24 there is no refund.
