Ancient Olympia Virtual Tour

Taking advantage of today’s technological advances, the Athens Macedonian News Agency, in collaboration with a team of Greek archaeologists, developed an app which enables users to virtually explore Ancient Olympia allowing them to travel back to the days when the Olympic Games were first played.

Virtual visitors can explore Olympia on their own and be in control of their journey by determining the duration of their stay at each individual monument. All users can have access to photos, texts, videos, audio documents as well as interactive maps with suggested routes and detailed presentations of each important monument or area of interest. The app also makes it possible for users to actively participate in various activities around the ancient site.

Besides taking a tour through history, users can add their own personal content, communicate with other virtual visitors, and even network with others from all around the world.  

According to the Athenian-Macedonian News Agency “this new platform will be a modern way of highlighting archaeological sites, cultural wealth, tourist infrastructure and attractions, through an integrated system with a specially-designed interface environment.”

All people, whether they are Greek culture and history lovers or just eager to learn more about it, will feel like tourists in this magnificent ancient city.
