Rome, the ancient city is the beginning of your 11 day excursion throughout the Italian peninsula. Add Pisa, Milan, Florence, and Siena or whatever cities you feel would be most exciting for your tour and you a comprehensive introductory study tour to the treasures of Italy! This tour is the perfect amount of time for you and your students or participants to experience the best that Italian culture has to offer you. Fully customized, you may add an extension visit to Venice and also a day trip to Pompeii from Rome!
Itinerary
Day 1: ROME. Arrival in ROME in the morning. Meeting at airport by our tour escort and transfer with your private bus to your centrally located hotel. Walking/orientation tour on foot. Dinner in selected restaurant. Overnight. (B,D)
Day 2: ROME- VATICAN Morning departure for guided city tour with your private guide, visiting the Vatican Museums and St. Peter’s Cathedral. Dinner in selected restaurant and overnight in hotel in Rome. (B,D)
Day 3: ROME. Morning departure for guided tour with local guide. Drive by Colosseum (visit), pass by Via Appia Antica with Roman monument from Rome’s imperial past, continue with visit of the Pantheon and then walking to Santa Maria della Vittoria. Dinner and overnight in Rome.(B,D)
Day 4: ROME. On foot or subway to visit Villa Borghese with fine collections of paintings and Museo Borghese. Also visit Villa Giulia, the country retreat of Pope Julius III. Dinner and overnight. (B,D)
Day 5: ROME – PISA – FLORENCE. Morning departure by private coach to PISA (visit the famous tower, baptistery) and continue on to FLORENCE. Dinner in FLORENCE and overnight in Florence. (B,D)
Day 6: FLORENCE. Morning visit (with local guide) on foot of the Palazzo Pitti, Galleria dell’ Accademia, and Santa Croce Church. Dinner in selected restaurant, overnight in Florence. (B,D)
Day 7: FLORENCE. Guided visit on foot with local guide of the Uffizi Gallery, Palazzo Vecchio, Ponte Vecchio and Instituto and Museo di Storia della Scienza. Dinner in selected restaurant. Overnight in Florence. (B,D)
Day 8: FLORENCE-SIENA Departure for day trip by coach to visit Siena, the quaint little town close to Florence. Walking tour in the old town, visit the Cathedral and enjoy an authentic cooking class, make your own pasta and eat it too!. Visit a local winery with wine tasting at local farmhouse on the way back. Dinner and overnight in Florence. (B,D)
Day 9: FLORENCE – MILAN. Drive by coach and your tour escort to visit Alpha Romeo car manufacturer upon arrival in MILAN. Visit Santa Maria delle Grazie, famous for the “Last Supper” of Leonardo da Vinci, and if possible Saint Ambrogio. Dinner and overnight in Milan, close to central station. (B,D)
Day 10: MILAN. Day to explore MILAN on foot. Visit the sites such as Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Terria, Duomo, Sant’ Ambrogio, Pinacoteca di Brera. Dinner and overnight in Milan. (B,D)
Day 11: MILAN-USA. Morning transfer by bus to Milan airport for return flight back to the US.
